Article One - Name
The name of this organization is: The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc.
Article Two - Purpose
The purpose of The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. is to provide an opportunity for fellowship among statewide alumni and friends, to recruit prospective students, to be of service to all Connecticut students, to promote the interests of Purdue University and to assist in strengthening the influence of Region 1 1 in Alumni Association affairs.
Article Three - Membership
All graduates of any campus of Purdue University, and all persons who have attended Purdue University or had family members attend Purdue University or who have shown a vital interest in Purdue University shall be eligible for membership in The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. Any such person shall become a member upon the payment of dues in the amount established in Article Four of this Constitution.
Article Four - Dues
Annual dues for The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. shall be set by the Board of Directors and shall be payable in advance.
Article Five - Directors and Officers
The Directors of The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. shall serve on a Board composed of past Presidents, the current President and Vice-President and those chosen for special assignments. The Board of Directors shall be responsible for establishing policies, and shall assist the club officers in planning events and service projects, appoint committee chairmen, and provide assistance to the President as necessary.
Directors shall be elected by the general membership of The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. is serve extended terms to insure continuity and the benefit of experienced leadership at all times. The Directors shall function under the leadership of a chairperson, elected from the body of the Board and serving at the discretion of the Board for an indefinite term. As the titular head and the Ex-officio Executive officer, the chairperson shall preside at all Board Meetings and chair the Nominating Committee, preparing a slate of officer candidates for consideration.
The Directors, as a body, shall provide the mechanism by which the general membership of The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. can elect a slate of officers to fill the following positions, and any other positions they deem to be necessary to efficient operation:
President - The President will preside at all meetings and, will serve as the Chief Operating Officer of The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. The President, at the discretion of the Board of Directors shall serve for a two year term.
Vice-President - The Vice-President will serve in the absence of the President and shall be the president-elect of The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc.. The Vice-President, at the discretion of the Board of Directors, shall serve for a two year term.
Treasurer - The Treasurer will be responsible for handling money, dues, receipt and payment of bills for The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. The Treasurer shall receive, manage and disperse the scholarship money. The treasurer shall serve for an extended period to insure continuity.
Secretary - The Secretary will record the minutes of all meetings, shall maintain the official roll of The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. Members, and assist in the distribution of club sponsored mailings. The secretary shall serve for an extended period to insure continuity.
Article Six - Meetings
General membership business meetings shall be at least once each year, and at such additional times as the Board of Directors shall deem necessary. One meeting each year shall be designated as the Annual Meeting for the election of Officers and Directors.
Article Seven - Committees
The Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. shall maintain four standing committees, one each in the areas of finance, scholarship, membership, and activities. The treasurer is to be a committee member of the Finance and Scholarship Committees, the
President and Secretary are to be a members of the Membership Committee and the Vice President(s) to be member(s) of the Activities Committee. The committees shall be composed of no fewer than three members appointed from the general membership. The duties of the standing committees and the naming of the chairpersons are the responsibility of the Board of Directors.
Article Eight - Dissolution of Club
In the event that the Purdue Club of Connecticut, Inc. is dissolved, and club funds will be given to the Purdue Alumni Club of West Lafayette, Indiana.
Article Nine - Amendments
This Constitution may be amended at any time by a two-thirds vote of the membership in attendance at the annual meeting.
