The raffle & auction netted $826 for the Bob & Sarah Bateman Endowed Scholarship Fund which was matched for a grand total of $1652!  Thanks so much to our very generous bidders during the Live Auction portion of the evening.  Please click here to view photos from this exciting evening.

Purdue vs. Indiana
Saturday, November 18, 2000

W 41-13
The roses were waving and the chants were numerous as the local Purdue Club revelers celebrated the end of the Big 10's second-longest Rose Bowl drought. Like Coach Tiller said, 'This is where you want to be, the Granddaddy of them all.' No recount needed here - it was Purdue 41, IU 13. Purdue hasn't witnessed such a rosy scene in 34 years. There was not much room left at Sidelines Sports Bar in Factoria for the Purdue crowd of 50 on Saturday!! We couldn't have been any louder. The party ended with a rousing rendition of 'Hail Purdue'. Take a look at our rowdy gang!

No. 17 Purdue finished the regular season 8-3 (6-2 Big Ten). The Boilermakers are Big Ten Conference tri-champions with Michigan and Northwestern. It is the eighth Big Ten championship in Purdue history. The Old Oaken Bucket victory is the Boilermakers' fourth in a row against the Hoosiers and Joe Tiller's fourth without a loss against IU. 'The Texas Connection' got a workout giving Montrell Lowe 38 carries for a career high 208 yards and four touchdowns. All Brees did was complete 20-of-29 passes for 216 yards, run 10 times for 85 yards and got one reception, while becoming the first quarterback to lead the Boilermakers (8-3, 6-2) to Pasadena since Bob Griese. On the Heisman race, Brees is back to looking Rosy.

Purdue vs. Michigan State
Saturday, November 11, 2000

L 30-10
A quiet crowd of about 25 local Purdue faithful gathered for the MSU game. There was no Rose Bowl dance under the disco lights at Shooter's this past weekend. MSU spanked Drew Brees so hard you can hardly read Heisman on his heine.

That's right, wrap it up and throw it away like the smelly old fish you found in your boat for a couple of days after that fishing trip last summer. Purdue played its worst game of the year at the worst time. Headlines read:

No. 9 Boilermakers Stunned By Spartans 30-10

Purdue vs. Ohio State
Saturday, October 28, 2000

W 31-27
A group of nearly 20 Purdue fans thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth game against Ohio State at Sidelines Sports bar in Bellevue last Saturday. Once again, Drew Brees showed off his skills by passing 64 yards to Seth Morales, who got behind the Ohio State defense and went in for the winning touchdown with 1:55 to go. Even on an off day with 4 interceptions, Brees passed for 455 yards and three fourth-quarter touchdowns as the No. 16 Boilermakers beat No. 12 Ohio State 31-27.

Purdue vs. Penn State
Saturday, September 30, 2000

L 22-20
A small but rowdy group of Club members enjoyed the Purdue-Penn State football matchup at the Sidelines Sports Bar on September 30, 2000. Our Penn State Alumni hosts brought a much larger group for the matchup. It was a tough defensive game during which the Purdue special teams gave up 17 points. Despite giving up these points, the score was close all the way to the end. Unfortunately, Purdue was not able to score on the last drive (from the Purdue 5) and Penn State edged Purdue 22-20. It was fun to watch a game with fans from the opposing team! See you on November 11th

Fourth Annual Big Ten Alumni Golf Tournament
Friday, August 25, 2000

First come-first served was the call to play golf at the Elk Run Golf course in Maple Valley on August 25th. Open to 100 players or 25 foursomes, space was still available. Most of the Big 10 schools were represented. Peter Cooper, our Club Treasurer, reports that it was a lot of fun even though Purdue only had one foursome in the tournament. Peter's foursome had the high score for the day! But the good news is that they each won a $20 gift certificate to the pro shop for high score! The Purdue group also took home three of the door prizes drawn at the lunch held after the tournament. Mark your calendars for next year - ladies too! We proved you don't have to be a great golfer to have a great day!

Reception for the new School of Veterinary Medicine
Friday, August 18, 2000

"Continuum" Purdue's newest Landmark: 22 members of the Purdue Club of Puget Sound had the rare opportunity to see a special showing of "Continuum", a life-size outdoor bronze sculpture by Larry Anderson at the Museum of Flight. At the reception, guests were able to meet the sculptor as well as Dean Rebar and his wife, Susan McLaughlin, of the Vet school and others involved in the project over the last eight years. Continuum, was created by the local artist at a foundry on the Olympic Peninsula. From the first showing here in Seattle, the sculpture was transported by truck to nearly a dozen stops on its way to the Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine campus. The sculpture was dedicated at Purdue on September 25th and is now the center of attraction on the plaza at the Vet school. Stop by and see it when you are at Purdue or visit our http://www.purduealum.org/pugetsound/photo_gallery.htm%20target=for more photos!
