 September 2007

Purdue Football - Purdue vs. Eastern Illinois Purdue (1-0) plays E. Illinois this Saturday, September 8th at 11:00am local (Houston). The club will meet downtown at The B.U.S. (Ballpark at Union Station) - across from Minute Maid Park, located at 1800 Texas Avenue.

If anyone has another venue that you would like to watch games at closer to your area (i.e. Woodlands, Clear Lake, Pearland, etc) please contact the venue, make sure they will 100% have the game available and get a point of contact from the venue. Then if you're sure you'll be in attendance, e-mail the club (purduehouston@yahoo.com) and we'll send the information out to club members.

College Fair Volunteers Needed !!!

College Fairs are beginning soon! We're trying to get volunteers lined up early this year to make sure we get the brochures out to everyone on-time and are able to RSVP to the high schools in due time. If you're interested I've attached the list of all the Houston College Fairs. Alumni interested in volunteering should reply back to this e-mail with all the following info: Name: Fair/Date: Would you like to be a "Lead"? Yes/No (all this means is that Purdue sends you the box of brochures and you are responsible for showing up a little early to set up) If "yes", what is your address? Contact Phone Number and E-mail: That's all, if you are unaware of what we do at these college fairs, please e-mail me, or give me a call (281)451-7658.

Job Searches - Center for Career Opportunities

I hope many of you have looking for employers/employees have found success from the COC website. (https://www.cco.purdue.edu/alumni/CCOExpressLogin.shtml)

The Center for Career Opportunities joined a few dozen of our peer institutions ventured out to create our own technology infrastructure to support our on-line campus interviewing program and job posting services. To accomplish this, Purdue formed a partnership with two not-for-profit professional associations - DirectEmployers, who developed the product and provides us the technical expertise and support, and NACE, who provides us with customer support. Together, we formed the NACElink Alliance. A newly-developed alumni component of NACElink enables us to drive our experienced graduates to the DirectEmployers site through a Purdue-branded portal. If you get a chance to surf this site a bit at https://www.cco.purdue.edu/alumni/CCOExpressLogin.shtml, you'll notice that alums can conduct a keyword search, geographical search or select from time filter options. There are currently in excess of 226,000 job listings on the site and a keyword search will often produce 500+ jobs. In addition to providing this alumni job search engine the CCO offers a wide array of resources and services to alumni. A link to the CCO is provided at the PAA website: http://www.purdue.edu/paa
