In addition to being a showcase for the University, the 67,000-square-foot
alumni center will house the offices of the Purdue Alumni Association
and University Development. It will consolidate and centralize Purdue’s
fund-raising activities and is expected to become a destination
and gathering area for the Purdue Alumni Association’s 68,000
members and more than 325,000 living alumni
As a celebration of Purdue’s contributions to the world,
the center includes the Spurgeon Hall of Spirit, featuring Purdue’s
achievements via interactive kiosks and museum-quality exhibits.
Tom Spurgeon (B.S. Industrial Management ’61) of Peoria Heights,
Illinois, gave $1 million to fund the exhibition hall. The three-story
building also houses conference rooms, and a catering kitchen and
dining facilities that can accommodate up to 80 people.
