PURDUE ALUMNI CLUB OF CENTRAL KENTUCKY CHARTERED

"Stepping Out with Gene Keady" was the theme for the first meeting of The Purdue Alumni Club of Central Kentucky (PACCK). Fellow Boilermakers of Central Kentucky officially helped create PACCK October 11, 2001 at its charter meeting held in Lexington Kentucky.

Men's head basketball coach Gene Keady was the evening's keynote speaker and was joined by longtime friend, University of Kentucky head basketball coach Tubby Smith.

Kellie Cox, Purdue Alumni Association Assistant Director for Clubs, brought greetings from the campus and the Purdue Alumni Association.

The winner of the drawing for an autographed _ basketball was Deanna VanBusscam. Election of officers was held and the following officers were installed: President, Les Brooks, Vice President, Mike Shaffer, Secretary, Bill Sheets, Treasurer, Lara Beth Sheets

PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Les Brooks

Welcome to all of you, who elected to be a part of the Purdue Alumni Club of Central Kentucky. I personally want to thank the steering committee that worked very hard during most of 2001 to make this club a reality. The committee was made up of graduates from the sixties to the late nineties. The membership is no less diversified in areas of education and work experience as the diversity of the steering committee.

The club was prompted by a Christmas gift from my youngest daughter, which was a packet from PAA for starting an alumni club. Now that the start up is done the club is designed to be yours. The new board has formulated a list of club sponsored activities for the year and plans have been laid for each member to have their own activity presented to the membership. I hope to meet each of you at sometime throughout the year.

My personal goals for the club consist of memorable times for the membership and making young members of our community aware of the opportunities available at Purdue University.

Hail Purdue!
