Greetings,
It’s been a full year for your Purdue Alumni Club of Central Kentucky.
We adjusted to the loss of our President and Vice-President, Bill and Laura Beth Sheets. The Sheets’ moved to Ft. Collins, CO, where Bill is Assistant VP for Advancement at Colorado State University.
In the year to come, we have a number of issues to address.
Most pressing is supporting the Purdue students from the Bluegrass. We are searching to improve our effectiveness in the recruitment of students for Purdue. Additionally, we need to better publicize and distribute to Purdue students the scholarship/grant funds annually available from your dues to this local alumni club. We encourage your suggestions, specific or general. Please email them to me at jim.phillips@alumni.purdue.edu or use the enclosed RSVP card.
Note that I’m using a Purdue email address. You can too!. The Purdue Alumni Association sponsors a free email forwarding service. This allows you to change your email address without any disruption in the email you receive. Just use the web link: http://www.purdue.edu/alumni to enroll, select an email account name, and provide your current email address. Thereafter, give folks your Purdue email address and their email is automatically forwarded to your actual email address. Whenever you change email service providers, just register your new email address with Purdue and your friends and relation don’t have to change your address in their email address books. Additionally, you’ll be demonstrating your support and connection with Purdue.
We have appreciated the help of Meghan Stenger, Frank Johnson, and Jeff Albrecht along with Les Brooks, our first president, as regular participants in our planning sessions.
I look forward to seeing you at our Annual Dinner and Business Meeting on Saturday, October 21, 2006, at Jonathan at Gratz Park Inn at 6p. We expect the cost to be under $30 per person, including tax and tip. Our featured speaker is UK’s Bruce Walcott. Dr. Walcott is an engineering professor focused on fostering economic development through engineering. He’ll talk on the future of Purdue and UK from his unique perspective.
Please return the enclosed Survey/RSVP card to allow us stay better touch with you, as well as to request menu and payment information for the Annual Dinner and Business Meeting.
If you have any questions, suggestions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Hail Purdue!
Jim Phillips
President

At the business meeting that followed, Jim Phillips was elected President and Delphine Coupal and John Cioci were re-elected Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.
