Young Alumni Program A young alumni is defined as a person who has graduated within the past 10 years and/or is 32 years of age or younger. PAA is inviting students and kids to become involved with the alumni at any age. PAK, PASE, information, details, student discounts on books, etc.etc. can all be found on the PAA Website. www.purduealum.org. We are looking for someone to step forward, start and coordinate the Young Alumni Program in our club. Contact: call or e-mail John Cioci.Keeping in Touch We have had a Website since our kickoff dinner in October of 2001. In addition to posting our upcoming events and updates, we provide our newsletters, both past and present to those who wish to read them. Past newsletters provide recent graduates and new alumni with a sense of what we are all about, and hopefully will be a starting point for new ideas. The Website also has a photo gallery and we will continue to add more pictures. We hope you will enjoy them. Addition photos are available e-mail delphine@qx.net.
E-mails are fast becoming a way of life for us. Since most of us have a life 24/7, communicating with alumni should never interfere with family time. We would like to use e-mail as the first point of dialog between the board members, officers and alumni. Please send and update your e-mail addresses as needed. It is the desire of the board to see more input on our events, what you like or don’t, suggestions on where and how we get together, and what makes the club exciting to you. E-mails cut down on the cost of mailings. But with e-mails we have no way of knowing if they are received or if your Internet Service Provider filters them out as spam. An occasional "hi, got your e-mail" would let know they are getting through. Your suggestions and comments are always welcome and will bring us closer together. We are waiting to hear from you. There are some of us who do not have e-mail service. We are looking for one or more volunteers who have the time to make a few calls. Contact any board member if you would like to be a volunteer, it would be just a few pleasant phone calls to keep them in touch. We will however, continue to send out postcards and at least one yearly newsletter. Our dues or activity fee will remain the same with 25% going to the scholarship fund. Your dues cover some of our operating expenses. Football Schedule 2005 Sat. 09/10/05 Akron (West Lafayette) .Sat. 09/17/05 Arizona (Arizona). Local News 2005 golf scramble: A beautiful Kentucky morning greeted the three teams of golfers at Marriott’s Griffin Gate. This year’s event was combined with the annual student send off picnic. Alumni and a few students joined the golfers for an afternoon luncheon. Central Kentucky is proud to have 56 returning students and 19 incoming freshman, with 16 of these students from Lexington. 2005 college night: October will be here shortly and it will be college night at Heritage Hall. Each year more that 250 high school students visit the Purdue table. It is the goal of the Purdue club to keep a close relationship between the university and our future Boilermakers from Central Kentucky. We would like to make a list of any alumni who are willing to share their Purdue experience, plan student send off and picnic, review scholarship applications, help with college night etc. Again e-mail any board member or officer to get started. PAA with there P.A.R.T..(Purdue Alumni Recruiting for Tomorrow) program is on their website with all the details. Danville Playhouse Michelle Squires, a senior studying acting at Purdue, spent her summer internship in Danville. Michelle was part of the summer company at Pioneer Playhouse. She played the part of Gertrude in "On the Razzle’ in June. It was a great performance. The 8-week internship at the playhouse is an intensive ‘hands on’ experience that explores all phases of production. After graduation she plans to move to California, and see where life takes her. From all of us in Kentucky, we wish her the best. Purdue News Get Purdue news weekly in your e-mail box!
